Our home in Double Bay on the beautiful island of Eleuthera was completed on April 20, 2020. It sits on 2.3 acres nestled between a 20 acre pond and a beautiful private beach. We are very proud that all of the facilities on our property are environmentally sustainable with solar power and a rain harvesting system. The main house is 8,400 sq ft. with four en suite bedrooms plus a separate master suite with private entrance. The chef-inspired kitchen features a custom rock wall, large island, gas range, double oven, and any cooking tool the most skilled chef could need. The spacious living room with soaring 28 ft ceilings include a beautiful bar and is perfect for family game night, conversation, or a sunset cocktail which can be viewed from the large pergola attached overlooking the infinity pool and private pink sand beach.
The detached guest casita which is 2,200 sq ft. overlooks the pool and has a large living space and eat-in kitchen. Three en suite bedrooms as well as an additional bunk room, with top twin bunks and bottom full/double bunks, also features a full bathroom.
A large covered cabana--affectionately known as “The Office”--rounds out the incredible lot and faces both the private beach and showcases the sunset from the pond side of the property. The multi-functional space can be used for yoga, cocktails, coffee breaks, massages, or a quiet dinner by the ocean.
Just YellowBird
This project was a long-time dream of a young girl who came to a quaint place called Windermere Island Club which was connected to Eleuthera by only a small bridge. Creating happy memories for many years there, she decided that when she had her children, she would bring them to learn and enjoy this wonderful, simple island life. Her three children embraced and indeed fell in love with Eleuthera and have now passed the tradition onto their young children. Thus, our home YellowBird was built.
If you are not familiar with “Yellow Bird” it is a famous song which originated as a Haitian poem and later became popular as Jamaican and Caribbean versions emerged over time. The previously mentioned young girl had wonderful memories of her father sitting on the beach at Windermere Island Club during their weekly cookouts listening to Dr. Seabreeze strum his guitar and sing the enchanting lyrics. Her dad would stroll over to him, tip him a $20, and say “Please play ‘Yellow Bird’ for me friend.”
Today the tradition continues, and a $20 is floated to Dr. Seabreeze as he sings “Yellow Bird” to all three generations of my family. Eleuthera, as you will see, is not only beautiful, but provides a simple and charming way of life. You will quickly realize that the local residents are a very special part of your experience, and also the “Potcakes” will add a lot of joy to your visit!
